Yes. DC purchase the Fawcett characters back in the 70's. It's kind of amazing how many characters were originally created by now-defunct competitors. DC did better than Marvel, who would just take the name of a former competitor's character and make a new character with that name, usually wildly different. (e.g. The Golden Age Doc Strange was a scientist and Ghost Rider was a cowboy who rode a horse)
