My first 3D printer was the Makerbot 2x a few years ago. Since then I have gotten a few more printers. My most recent is the Ultimaker 3. I am a teacher and got away from Makerbot due to the lack of support. Now I have a coworker who didn't feel like UM gave him much support. Maybe our district is going back to Makerbots... we will see. My middle school students use Rhino to design simple projects that mean something to them. We start with a castle and then create a keychain. Projects that take about 2 hours to print and are flat on the bottom are best. I am working on getting more students to do more complex 3D prints that will use support from our 2 material printing machines. One of them is the "alien bigfoot" project.
