Considering an Ender 3

by silvatech

So close to about a year ago I bought an Anet A8. I had never 3d printed and it seem like a good printer to test if I would like 3d printing etc. So far I like 3d printing and actually have come up with some of my own designs and that. I was about to upgrade the frame etc on the anet A8, but then notice the ender 3 pratically is what I would be changing the anet A8 into (course some big differences on way parts move.)

So I am begining to wonder if I have just outgrown the A8. A8 I was considering upgrading frame to am8 and changing MB ramps.

I am wondering if anyone has done this and also owns an ender3 to compare what they experienced. I hate to throw money in upgrades to find that the base of ender 3 is better stock?

Any thoughts much appreciated thanks.

Aluminum Extruder Upgrade

by sbeecroft

I have 8 Ender 3's, all pretty close in age, I have upgraded several with Aluminum Bowden Extruders. Those I have not, are starting to have issues with extrusion as seen in the pictures. Save yourself some frustration and swap it out early.

Here is my guide:

Thin top layers

by SavedDoughnut16

So my ender 3 prints are coming out amazing after a few mods. However some top layers( especially flat ones) come out pretty thin and not even attached to the rest of the print. I didn't really ever have this problem before so maybe I accidentally clicked something in s3d but I'm not sure what it could be. The bottom layers come out perfect though.

New nozzle leveling issue

by tngraham1979

Have had my ender 3 for approx a month now with no issues. I changed my nozzle from a .4 that it came with to a .2 that I ordered. I leveled the bed using the paper method. Now every time I try to print, the nozzle is right up against the bed & I can't print, even though I leveled it before hand. Have leveled the bed several times and keep getting the same thing...fine during leveling but way too close during printing. I did notice that the new nozzle sits up a little higher than the one that it came with. Just to check to see if it was in fact the nozzle causing the issue, I put the original nozzle back in and it prints just fine. Not sure how to fix this. Please help.

firmware update through cura

by printingjunkie

Hey guys Im new to 3d printing and was hoping for some help updating firmware. Now I do not have an arduino so I am forced to do it through cura. I have connected my printer to my windows 7 PC with the mini usb cable and done everything right. I struggle with getting the correct .HEX file and weeding through the zip file I downloaded from http://marlinfw.org/docs/basics/install.html. I thought I had the right one but when I began the update the said failed to communication error. I proceed to try multiple cables and even my windows 10 laptop.I could rely use and appreciate help.

Ender 3 glass and resistance with the paper

by darcdrake

Hi guys, recently i notice ,i think a problem.I have an ender 3,i brought it 2 weeks ago,i assemble it and i make some awesome prints out of the box,few days ago i took off the glass i have on the bed to clean it up,it was still warm, around 50-60c,and i clean it with water when it was hot, anyhow the glass got a warp, after that i brought a new one 3mm,previous one was 2mm, and i put on,i leveled my bed and when i tried the ender 3 bed leveling test the noozle was to close to the bed  ,i level it on the air while printing the test, after i got it leveled i put a paper under it and i was supprised because the paper doesnt have so much resistance between the bed and and nozzle, but i lost some quallity from my prints.I havent change anything from cura, everything is the same.
