I've been researching stuff for introducing some 3D printable ring jousting sets for this rather under-utilized event. If you see this forum and are interested in helping with the design if you could please post images of your favorite ring jousting equipment sets so I could get more ideas for equipment that would be great.
You can find the Maryland Jousting Tournament Association and the event rules here: http://marylandjousting.com/
Currently we have one major design for stirrup that I've been able to find on thingiverse, and that belongs to TimothyF who has now joined our group. His design was able to support his weight in the saddle, but with some undesirable bending when using PLA. You can view his design here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2551619. I'd like to challenge anyone who is interested to come up with a design for either Western or English saddles that has a test breaking load of 850 lbs or more. That would give a factor of safety of 2 for a very heavy person putting their full weight on the stirrup and make a very sturdy end product.
I'm making a quick forum thread here for my future how to guide on using photogrammetry to create 3D models of horse feet, and then what information can be gained from these models for trimming and veterinary applications. All while using only freely available software anyone can download and use.
Does anyone have one of these devices to take measurements on and start to figure out some ideas on a 3D printable version. There also should be some coating guides for making it dishware safe since many of the plastics normally are slightly toxic. Any additional information or ideas for equipment to help float horse teeth would be appreciated.
