I use and play with this printer since april 2016. I spent a lot of time with it. With my own experience, the facebook group and my blog, I tried to gather in one page the information useful for newbies for Monoprice Maker Ultimate & Wanhao Duplicator 6.

I have a Monoprice Maker Ultimate. My X axis keeps shifting to the right. After drawing the perimeter of an object the bottom skin layer shifts about 1/2 mm. The next layers shift a little more, then some layers shift 4 or 5mm. It seems like a mechanical problem of loose pulleys on the shaft or motor, but it is not that.
I have disassembled and reassembled the X-axis several times. I have used Loc-tite between all of the belt pulleys and their shafts, and I have used Loc-tite on all the set screws after torquing the crap out of them. I have everything lined up square and true. The carriage slides smooth with no binding. It moves with almost no force with the steppers removed. I tried swapping the X and Y steppers. No change.
Here is where this gets interesting. I made up two extension jumper cables for the X and Y steppers so that I could connect the controls for the X stepper to the Y stepper motor and vice versa. I also had to change the wire order to reverse the direction of the steppers and swap the X and Y home switch cables on the motherboard.
The result is that the X and Y axis are swapped. I printed my test print again, and I was right! the slippage moved to the Y-axis!!!
OK, so no I know it is not mechanical. The motherboard is somehow losing steps.
Even when the speed is turned down to 30%, the slippage still happens.
Anyone else ever seen this? Any ideas? What is the recommended XY-driver current fo t5he D6?
Thanks in advance.
Hi I have a Wanhao Duplicator D6 and haven't modified it much, apart from adding a better fan duct. This worked great form almost a Year.
I have a Problem now: When I turn the power on, the Printer only sort of turns on. What I mean by that is that the Display and the LED lights work no Problem, but the fannoise is absent and the motors and heaters won't do anything... I tried opening it and pressing on all the cables a bit incase any of them came loose, to no effect :( Has anyone of you experienced this bevore? Do you know how I can solve this Problem? Any help would be appreciated.
I am trying to convince Marlin project to start support of
Monoprice Ultimate / Wanhao Duplicator-6 as an "official model":
