I was fascinated by 3D printing because I don't like cutting materials with manual tools as much as I like software and electronics development. It was nice to put some old CAD skills in use from AutoCAD days by using OpenSCAD and SolidWorks now.
I have only one printer, Velleman K8200, which I like because of the sturdy and stable structure but still good base for upgrades and modding. After a year I upgraded with K8203 and K8204 kits to 1.5mm wire and higher resolution and it is great now! It would be nice though to have dual extruders for a soluable support material. I print mostly remotely and with PLA, sometimes 60 hour prints or several prints in a row by poking off the old print with the tip of the hot end when everything has cooled down to unstick. I have a higher heat bed external voltage option for ABS printing and also an active carbon air filter with a high power ventilation fan.
