This make is a test patch (shape= 3, sidelength =10, thickness =3, turns = 5,line_width = 1) i made from 3mm MDF. I made a few other ones (not in pictures) with different settings (shape =4, turns =3, linewith =3), but this one had the best strength & plyability combination for my purposes.
The second picture shows the same patch, after bending it around a 5 cm diameter ball (wetted & dried under tension). i'm planning to apply the pattern in a design i'm working on: a "2-axis-curved box" in MDF, parametrically designed in openscad.
Thus, to be continued!
PS: i always wondered why people would want to 3D-print these designs. the design is flat/2D, so why not just cut it with a laser cutter instead?
