I finished my X axis upgrade yesterday & it's great. Aside from a part I made to mount my Toranado extruder, it's straight from SonnyLowe's design. After doing both Sonny's X & Y axis upgrades, my motors & power supply fan are the loudest parts of my printer. Huge difference.
[EDIT: still trying to post the video] The attached video shows a first layer being printed followed by the start of the second layer. The first layer is printing at 1440mm/min (24mm/sec) and the second is printing at 3600mm/min (60mm/sec). Most of the sounds are coming from the motors.
I previously upgraded to lead screws & modified the position of my 8mm smooth Z axis rods. To make Sonny’s parts work, I printed these Rod Holder Plates to get the configuration back to stock: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1206247
I plan on adding TMC2100 or 2130s next to hopefully quiet down my motors. My PSU's fan is starting to rattle randomly, so that'll probably get replaced soon too.
