I made one of these chisel sharpeners with a chisel calibration plate I've got also in thingverse.
I had all sort of problems before getting a successfull print. Let me tell.
1) The STL file comes to print vertical, with very little base. First pair of pieces resulted in a mess of printed wire because of that, and because I tried to print without support. (pic 1 included)
2) I rotates 90 degrees getting good adherence to the plate. Still did not use support. The hot end tangled with the lose wires, lost a couple of steps and bum, ruined piece (pics 2 and 3)
3) Decided to add support (great idea I read from somebody else who printed this piece) but I was using 20% infill. Guess what? The piece broke the first time I mounted a chisel and tightened the screws (pic 4)
4) Finally I printed at 100% infill, using support, the piece turned 90 degrees. Everything worked fine (pics 5 and 6)
In the end, it's a great tool for big chisels and small planers that I cannot live without.
I wonder how can I make it work for 1/2 inch chisels.....
