I was inspired by old 1930's diving helmets and wanted to do something different with the paint job. The visor is an old rusted mesh colander that was cut and hot glued in place.
Talcum powder and super glue were used to fill the gaps then sanded back with 60-1200 grit sandpaper (wet sanded from 240-1200 grit) The helmet was then primed with an automotive filler primer then wet sanded with 240-1200 grit sandpaper.
Next 3 coats of black acrylic paint was applied to the helmet followed by 2 coats of Rust-oleum Hammered copper paint.
Next up was the weathering, the paints I used were burned umber, black and green acrylic paints brushed on then wiped off with paper towel, when it came to the green paint it was sponged on to the helmet to give it the oxidized look
This was my first time making copper paint look oxidized and weathering a helmet, I hope you enjoy this make
