This is two sets of DoozK's awesomely well designed DJI Phantom 3 legs printed on a ProX 500 SLS (Selective Laser Sinter) printer in Nylon.
They were printed for the local Naenae Computer Clubhouse, who had suffered a power failure on their phantom while it was airborne. This smashed the original legs and the gimbal. So thanks DoozK for the excellent re engineering of the phantom legs.
The Naenae Computer Clubhouse is one of two high tech lab / creative spaces set up in the low decile area of Lower Hutt for school age kids to go to after school and dig into technology and creativity in a safe environment. It is part of the worldwide Clubhouse network - http://theclubhousenetwork.org/.
I made a short video sequence of the removal of the parts from the printer "cake". You can see it here: https://youtu.be/pAvOLbXbIIY
You will notice in the video that we're all geared up for this process with dust suits, respirators, and gloves. Cleaning up prints and setting up the printer is a more serious and risky task than the nice clean filament printers. But this Nylon printer is quite pleasant when compared to the ProX 320 we also use which prints in aluminium. The aluminium powder we use is highly reactive, gives off hydrogen gas when in contact with water, and is both flammable and explosive. Nice!
Printed in Nylon powder printer.
