Gravitrax compatible spiral staircase
Made by nietsmoet, uploadedDescription
Another cool design by alex80it, thanks! The combination of 2 staircases next to each other (which was an idea of my 7-year-old) is double as pleasing :-)

Making sure there are enough support lines below the small hooks was indispensible, so thanks for the tip.
This was one of my first "multipart" Gravitrax designs, and one of my favorites because of the way the marble "clicks" at each step... When I designed this I was a bit worried that a vertical descending staircase would loose too much height all at once, and that's where the idea of the cannon came from...
The idea of chaining staircases is absolutely brilliant, it would also be cool to print a staircase "mirrored", so that the two spirals go in opposite directions! :)
My favorite part of the video is the "YESS!!" at the end, I can imagine your son's clenched fist and broad smile, and that's the reason I design this stuff... :)
It's fun to read a bit of history on your design efforts. Actually the height loss was one of the reasons we did not print the staircase right away. But then we had the immense height provided by the cannon and we needed something to go down quickly so we would not need many more spacers or elevating system parts.. and this came in quite handy :-)
Another make of this is planned to be printed this week, as a birthday gift to one of my son's Gravitrax-enthusiast friends.
As for the "YESS!!" - it tells you how often we tried to make the video work, it took about 6 takes I think. The track actually failed on stock Gravitrax parts most of the time ;-)
About the 6 tries, I know! And when you are trying to film a track it will fail on purpose just to ruin your video, most often on the very last trick tile! ;)
I am happy to know you find my designs good enough to make presents out of them, thanks!
