If you'd like to see more details, watch here: https://youtu.be/JbM4lfS2Fps

Today we're bringing you a 3D printed Stitch from the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch. Stitch is such an iconic character, and it was really fun to make into a full figure.

I modeled the whole thing in ZBrush in one sitting. It took about 6 hours from start to finish. I mostly used Dynamesh and just move things around until I get them looking right. Then I exported the model and cut off the bottom with Meshmixer so it would sit on the bed and print a bit easier.

I've included both the cut off model and the full model just in case someone wants to print it in a different orientation. I printed it on the CR10 at a 0.5mm layer height. It came out really good on top and really bad on the bottom.

Chelsey had to file and sand the crap out of it to smooth out the rough areas, and there were actually a few areas towards the bottom that she had to use putty to basically resculpt the geometry to make it look right. But she did an amazing job.

After that she primed it with filler primer, used an airbrush to paint on the main blue, then filled in all the details with acrylic paints and a paint brush. Then after the whole thing was dry she sprayed a glossy clear coat on it.

Printer: Creality CR-10
Filament: BamTak Gold PLA
Layer Height: 0.05mm
Supports: Yes

It's happened to all of us! I was completely dissatisfied with this, and set out to create my own waffle model.

Behold! Six inches in diameter, with 64 cavities for butter and syrup, and a 1/4" thickness connecting sections, this waffle has been optimized for 3D printing. A perfect 15° draft for internal features ensures this waffle would NEVER get stuck in the waffle maker!

Future versions may include a 4x4 grid of syrup wells, slightly inset and radiused top-walls, and perhaps a simulated ring of flash where the parting line would be. I intentionally left out the flash in this model to allow for printing without supports, but if people want it, I can work it into the revision.

Sir Pigglesby (a most noble piggy bank)

Sir Pigglesby is a multi part 3D printable piggy bank with a threaded stopper - he's about 25cm long fully assembled. The colours chosen and the painting of Sir Pigglesby are simply my recommendations and can of course be changed as wished. All of Sir Pigglesby was printed on a Prusa i3.

As is the tradition with my other fantasy models, Sir Pigglesby has a little (and possibly rather silly) backstory:

"Sir Pigglesby is a brave knight who serves in the army of the Sun. He wears a magic belt given to him by a Moon princess in thanks for joining her on a quest to rescue her parents from an army of Trolls. The belt (which bears the crescent insignia of the Moon Kingdom) enables Sir Pigglesby to carry an infinite number of objects without being hampered by bulk or weight. Only the chosen wearer can release the objects and as he is a noble, honest and loyal pig, he is in great demand to transport valuable items on the most dangerous missions."

There is quite a real life story attached to the creation of Sir Pigglesby. I've not been around much this and last year (from a free downloadable model standpoint), either due to professional commitments(for the first part of the 2016) and the second part(and still ongoing), helping my Louisiana family recover from a devastating flood and the serious illness of a close family member. Due to these personal commitments, I have not taken on any new commissions, but in order to "keep my hand in" artistically speaking (and to keep up spirits), I designed this friendly and brave piggy. I imagine him as a merry little fellow who would make anyone smile even on the worst days and would protect those close to him, no matter the danger.

I give you Sir Pigglesby - I hope you enjoy printing him as much I did designing him.

This instructable will tell you what to do:

https://www.instructables.com/id/The-Assembly-of-Sir-Pigglesby/

NOTE: coin_slot_v2.stl uploaded with a 33mm x 10mm slot size. If a coin can't get through that then it's too big for Sir Pigglesby:-)

Someone requested I upload it, so here you go..

There are 3 variants:

loubie_tudor_rose_simple_test.stl

This is about 6.5cm wide and I use this to test "showy" or "posh" filament because the shapes show off colours, metallic content or texture really well. In the example, it is showcasing Proto-pasta's beautiful Glitter-Flake HTPLA.

loubie_tudor_rose_pendant.stl
loubie_tudor_rose_chain_bead.stl

I used this to test a resin printer with every intention of getting it cast in gold. Never got around to it:-/ If someone does cast this then let me know - I want:-)

loubie_tudor_rose_test_for_casting.stl

This is a simplified version of the file which I used to do my first mold and cast in polyurethane resin.

It is a good design to test clarity of print an to showcase filament.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful!

PS Designed in Blender

I say rough because the mesh isn't perfect, but it will print on most printers given you are printing it at a sufficient size and quality to allow fine thin details to show.

The rugged nature of the mesh actually makes it look rugged like the logo, which is kinda neat.

If you are printing, you can adjust how embossed the text is by adjusting the Z scale. Also, you can adjust how thick the back piece the lettering stands on is by adjusting the z height- allowing it to clip into the ground will make it thinner, saving you filament.

The model is offered as is and probably won't be refined. If I felt like it, I'd make it from scratch and make it nice. As of now, the mesh was generated using some image to mesh software found online.

So this is Chip. The little cup with a chip in the side from the 1991 animated movie. I created the model in Fusion 360 using the sculpting environment to get the main shape. Then I finished up the face details with sketches.

After it was finished printing, my wife painted it. She started by using automotive filler primer. Then she painted him using acrylic paints and paintbrushes. Then to finish it up, she sprayed it with a glossy clear coat.

'SNAILZ' is a simple fun print that holds notes and cards in the curved slots in its shell. They're for holding notes reminding you of things to do, as a business card holder or even in the kitchen to hold recipes.

The slightly curved slots in the shell makes paper / card inserted curve slightly so it stays rigid enough to stand up and stay in place. There are 5 deep slots in total. .

Very simple prints that need no support, are practical and make a great gift... particularly well suited for people who have a habit of being slow to get things done!

...and please post pictures of your SNAILZ!

Please refer to the print settings and images for additional information.

Based off of Rudolph from the original Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie from 1964, the Reindeer Rabbit has its own little reindeer antlers and a new nose. Yes, I realize this could just as easily be considered a Jackalope. Call it what you want. This is a quick print with minimal material (it's hollow) so you can make one for yourself or multiple to give as simple gifts to family and friends. Merry printing to all!

I created this little cable holder hive. It is meant to be used with small cables, but you can always scale it. Enjoy.

UPDATE:

Since this item is far more popular than I expected I decided to upload 2 new versions for larger cables.

I believe medium size is the best choice.

After looking through all the designs of hex bit holders, I didn't find one that suited my needs perfectly so I modeled my own. It is a 4 x 15 grid giving you 60 spots for your 1/4" hex driver bits. The two tiers in front fit the shorter bits while the back two rows fit the taller bits. I have uploaded two versions of the model: one that fits each bit snugly and one that fits a little more loosely. If you prefer to be able to pull each bit out with one hand then try the loose fit and if you want them to be secure enough that they won't fall out when you turn the part over, try the snug fit. This is my first upload so I'm welcome to feedback. Thanks!

Also, please post pictures of your prints!

EDIT 12/1/2016
I re-uploaded the two parts after adding a chamfer I left out originally on the front left edge of the parts. The original posted parts' function was not affected by this. This change is purely cosmetic.
I also included the .ipt and .igs along with the .stl so you can tweak it in Autodesk Inventor or most other CAD software. Let me know if there are any changes you would like to see!

As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated, and please post any makes if you print your own. Cheers!

EDIT 12/10/2016

I just added a version of the loose fitting and snug fitting models that has the back two rows reduced down to the same internal height as the first two rows. Each row is still set up in tiers so it has the "stadium seating" design. This reduces the amount of material and time needed for the print and should function the same way.
