Chip-E-Surfer - The waves are breaking, its time to surf.

Take your Chip-E robot to the next level and attach this dynamic surf board and paddle to the feet servos. Surfs up!

Features:

Self balancing surfboard with pontoons
Weighted keel
Attaches to the standard Chip-E design

Assembly
The main surfboard hull will need to be sealed to avoid any leaks. Waterproof paint does the trick although other materials can be used. Snap in the pontoons and keel, and secure them with some glue. Finally, wedge dimes to the bottom of the keel to keep the surfboard stable. 4 dimes does the trick but you can add another for more stability.
Connect the feet servos to the surfboard and paddle. Use existing screws to connect.

Control & Surfing
Place Chip-E-Surfer flat on water surface with keel protruding down into water. A controlled environment is recommended like a tub of water or a pool. Once Chip-E-Surfer begins to paddle, it will move in a straight line. To change its directions consider attaching a rudder servo and remote control to unit.

Enjoy your one of a kind surfing robot!

This is my design for the contest, I was inspired by Transformers movie, so I made a new shell for chip-e. Some parts are original where I didn't make any changes, some are modified and some are new parts. the design is pretty simple and yet it has a unique feature that lets him move his arms without any additional servos because they are connected to his feet. also to make the movement a lot smoother I decided to use 4 bearings, the ones that are used for fidget spinners, 608 bearings. I didn't print him all, because I don't have chip-e and am not able to show how his arms move, but I made a short video showing how it might work. I have designed all part in a way that they do not require support for printing.
Hope you like it!

Most prints will require painting to bring out details in the chest logo and belt. If you want a cape, just get a nice piece of cloth and cut one out. It will look great! Print two ears and glue to the top of the head. Also, if you want an all sinister modern BatChipE, print in all black!

6/16/17 - Removed design for top because it was too difficult to easily print. Just print the ears provided and glue to a normal top. :)

When i first saw this remix contest the only thing i could think was Chip-E looks like Wall-E (could be because i have a 5 and 3 year old running around the house all the time and they like Wall-E)

So i looked around for a good Wall-e Model to base it off and then had to resize and adjust it to fit around the Chip-E basic shape.

While the RepRap project produced some functional printers, it was clear that nobody had intended to produce something for the desktop of the discerning designer. That’s where Layer One’s Proton and Neutron come in. If you're an open-source advocate, a tinkerer, and a designer with an eye for aesthetics, you’ll want one of these on your desk.

All the printed parts of the printer is right here. Neutron was built in OnShape. Log in to remix your own version of Neutron, it's free as long as you share what you have made. Visit our website for the BOM, CAD files, assembly guide and everything else.

These brackets MAY have to be altered slightly or the holes made a little larger to fit. I modeled these in a hurry. All the brackets I printed fit on my machine. If you alter the brackets, please submit them back to me so I can update the files here and everyone else can benefit.

I recommend PLA and more than 60% infill.
