The model resembles the baby groots appearance in the trailers of the movie.
I recommend using the high detail version to capture all the details i put on. But if your slicer freezes/crashes, use low detail version, as the high detail version has several million polygons and requires more RAM/computing power to be sliced. There are 2 versions of the model, one with brim and one without brim. Use the version with the brim for better adhesion. You will have to remove the brim after print to assemble it. Last thing: The model may be rotated once imported. Thats because Zbrush takes Y-coordinate to be the up-direction. Don't forget it to rotate by 90 as in the photos. Happy printing.
Post update: Uploaded a non-separated version as some users wanted (height 15cm, untested, should be printed fine).

Save pangolins

Pangolins now are facing critical crisis as they are closing to extinct. In fact, humans are the murderers of this disaster, superstition and greed are the main reason to cause this massacre.
Pangolins, the mammals covered in tough and overlapping scales, are actually far from aggressive. Their scales provide good defense against predators in wild. However, they’re considered the world’s most hunted animal because people believe that the meat is prized for medicinal ingredient and the scales help curl impotence.
Nowadays, the numbers of pangolins are less and less, some people eat them only for the reason of showing their ostentatious wealth, what they do to these helpless animals is to make them approach to endangered. Although International trade in pangolins has been banned by CITES since 2000; and are listed them as 'protected species' in most Asian home states, scaly anteaters are still threaten with smuggling and poaching. Pangolins’ disappear would not be the result we expect to see, only when strictly implement of law enforcement on punishing these poachers and pangolin-eaters would effectively bring down the crisis of extinction. This is our latest chance to save pangolins, and please never make science predictions come true.

Pangolin is a really skillful and difficult work that I have spent a lot of time on it. It has been passed at least six editions before presenting to all of you. What I was trying to challenge is an artwork with both perfect appearance and function. It was a little struggle for me to share this work at the beginning since I’ve fallen in love with it when it’s first done and stood in front of me. At this moment, what I am wondering more is to let you firsthand it, holding and feeling the variation with actions. Enjoy and I believe you’ll like it.

It
forms a four bay enclosure for Lenovo serial Ultrabay enhanced drives (12.7mm). The serial Ultrabay slim and Ultrabay Slim do fit but have gaps above them.

The tolerances are very close but the design has been successfully
realised, though even the protective plastic covering upsets the slot
sizes enough to cause issues.

Using 1/8th inch acrylic does not work with this design!

Layer 0 (black) is the through sheet profile cut.

Layer 1 (red) is the connector and slot cutouts

Layer 2 (yellow) is the text

There are three dxf files the first two are to be cut from 3mm
material and are only split for my convenience in fabrication. Sheet
three is to be cut from 5mm material and forms support slides.

Assembly is somewhat fiddly but everything does go together. The
easiest approach seems to be to start with the right side wall flat on
a desk and assemble parts onto the slots, then add the left side and
back and front.

Hairspray Pump

Please read the safety concern section below

Most of you have glass beds, and hairspray is one of the most commonly used bed adherence tools.

I'm not a fan of removing my glass bed every time I re-apply hairspray so I usually fold a paper towel into a little square, and spray the hairspray onto there, and then wipe it on in a thin layer in the middle of the bed. This has worked great, except I need two hands to do this, and I always end up coating the other hand in hairspray.

I was modeled after a can of unscented extra super hold Aquanet, but this has fit with a wide range of compression cans.

NOTE
If It doesn't mist out and it ends up streaming out, (the hole may seal due to over extrusion), just take a thin needle or pin and tap it into the hole. I used a 0.5mm needle to enlarge my hole, mists perfectly now

1) Print this out
2) Pull off the spray nozzle on your bottle of hairspray
3) Snap this into place
4) ...
5) You're done!

Now, I have a little sheet of paper towel folded next to the can, and every time I want to apply some hairspray to the bed single handedly, I just take the paper towel, and press down on the mouth quickly, and wipe that on the bed. Nice single even coating of hairspray!

After studying emmett's design carefully and with some advice from emmett himself, I managed to design a 60mm diameter version that prints faster. I also increased the internal clearances somewhat to make it less challenging to print. Like emmett's, it prints pre-assembled and without supports. Thanks, emmett!

Update: In my original version, the outer sphere was a little wobbly when closed and could cause jams. I've updated it to help prevent this problem. I've also included the Solidworks (2011) model for anyone to hack on.

Right and left "eyeballs" snap into the goggles and a 3D printed spring holds them open. A discrete piece of fishing line is used to actuate the blink. Or you can also skip the spring and the fishing line and just reach up and operate each iris manually. Optionally, you can add "lenses" to enhance the look.

Each full scan takes about two seconds. Photos of the scanning process can be found here.

Included is the raw OBJ output as well as a watertight, printable STL file.

Update 8/30/15: I've uploaded a much nicer version of the cleaned up scan provided by ESUN. This does not have the distorted face the older file has. It's labeled "best version". They also provided the texture file which is in the zip archive.

Introduction

I started this project to enable me to do another project which required sheet wood to be machined, (another 3D printer which I have been wanting to do for a while). without the large cost of out sourcing the tasks to a company. So I created this CNC named Root 2 to open up a endless amount of possibilities.

Why make it open source? Since getting involved with 3D printing and the whole open source community, it has taught me many things and open doors which might not have been open without the added experience the community has given me. So I thought what a great way to put something small back into very thing what got me hooked in the magical world of CNC machine - the open source community.

If you make one or remix it, I would love to see it! post some photos and show it off! =]

Working Area = 331x305x120mm (X,Y,Z)
Goals of this machine

Create a expandable CNC machine capable to machine aluminum

Use minimal different 3D printed parts

Customization (Make it Bigger)

Cheap

Simple

Use parts commonly used in DIY 3D printer

Easily sourced parts

Hello everybody,

GASB 1.0 a very simple printable flying wing.

The wingspan of this model is 80cm (31,5 inch). The parts of the model are able to fit into a standard 3D printer (19x19x16cm work size). The key points of this design are: very few pieces to be printed (9), cheapness (about 300g of PLA), easy assembly (only CA glue) and good flier!

History:

On July 31th 2016 over the field of GASB in Padulle the flying wing version 4 flew. The first four takeoff attempts was spent to find the CG. This is located 145mm rear to the junction leading edges of the wings. As soon found the CG, the plane took off twice by beautiful flights. The final weight of the version 4 was 334g with all (battery, motor, receiver etc,,,).

The version 5 was a little heavier (358g) due the increment of the thickness to 0.32mm instead 0.3mm, the infill 3% instead 2% and canopy fixed by magnets. The weight was increased but the motor is able to manage properly. Was downloaded by over 10000 people. Downloadable here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2320788

Version 6 available for download. The improvements are show here https://www.thingiverse.com/make:347302

This is an improved of my original printed guitar (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:710561). It is printed with 15% carbon fiber filled PLA, which is about 50% stiffer than regular PLA. I've also added slots for aluminum ribs in the X-bracing to keep the top from warping over time, and a head-to-heel aluminum truss rod to prevent neck warp.

This guitar requires a big printer - at least 14"x14".

So I decided to try to make some out of NinjaFlex rubber filament. The fit is perfect on my circa. 1994 SR80s. Not sure how the can size has changed over the years, but they look to be pretty similar shapes.

The comfort of this design is not as good as original foam, but I expect tuning of build parameters could help soften them up.

Please read my post about this frame first, it explain how this frame work :) If you don't have a 3D printer, I can also print it for you...

Be aware a few comments below suggest that scaling might be required in some cases (due to shrinkage/printer/filament). Experiment to find good result.

Discussion:
http://intofpv.com/t-whoopee-micro-quad

It’s not an easy thing to print. I am running a Ultimaker 2+ with Cura. I tried many settings and I have good result with “Normal” printing profile (it takes almost 3 hours to print). It would be even better to go with “Fine” if you can.

Use "Support" "Everywhere", over hang angle 40, I prefer the Line type. Infill density 100%.
Material: PolyMax PLA

It's designed in free 123D Design, so it's probably not perfect.

This bracket holds up a pair of headphones on a fabric cubicle wall using nothing more than pins to hold it up, and leaving no mark in the cubicle wall when it's removed. It can easily hold up even a fairly hefty pair of headphones.

It requires the metal double-pin piece from an Advantus Panel Wall Clip (http://www.zerbee.com/Products/Advantus-Panel-Wall-Clip__AVT75338.aspx) or similar clip (see picture), which will snap onto it, so that the pointy pins can be used to hook into the fabric of a cubicle wall system. If you don't have those, you could probably modify the design to something you can shove push-pins through, or use some other kind of pins, but those clips are pretty ubiquitous in fabric-cubicle-wall offices.

It's sized to fit most headphones, including the Sony MA Series comfort headphones I use at work.
