If you want to have a drinkpond, you should chose version 2 over version 1.

UPDATE: Version 2 of the drinkpond available now with 5mm higher water level and a cutout to reduce amount of plastic needed and hopefully reduce ABS warping. ATM untested, print at own risk.

This is a cat drinking pond that takes soda bottles (like coke, pepsi, etc) with a pco028 thread as a reservoir. The water level is kept constant without the need for permanent monitoring on your side.

All corners and edges are nicely rounded so your tippy-toe doesn't hurt itself - also it looks much better.

Doll House // Toy Shelves using recycled CD Cases

Have you ever wondered what to do with all those CD cases laying around the house? Why not turn them into something useful? With a few simple 3D printed pieces (designed with FreeCAD) we can make a doll house or shelving units for toys. The sky’s the limit! You can use the 3D printed pieces to make all sorts of configurations. Plus you can use paper printouts (placing them inside the CD case where the CD cover was) to personalize your doll house or toy shelves.

I have designed 6 standard pieces, you can print them out individually if you’d like, the files I have supplied are prepared to be printed out in groups thus speeding up the process.

The pieces are:

-->  8L_2T.STL (8 L y 2 T)
-->  2T_2X.STL (2 T y 2 X)
-->  2X_60_2X-60.STL (2 X60 y -X60) For the V shaped roof.

Assembly is simple and doesn’t require any glue nor tape. Keep symmetry in mind when joining the pieces and make sure to leave the empty gap (left after removing the black plastic) facing outward on either side but never towards the front nor back of the structure as this would affect its stability.

--> 8L_2T.STL                    (8 L y 2 T)
--> 8T_2X.STL                   (8 T y 2 X)
--> 2X_60_2X-60.STL         (2 X60 y -X60)  Para el tejado en V.

UPDATE 13.08.2016 - look for picture and zip file named "shades"

Intention of this lamp is to be able to control shadows while doing assembly and soldering works. Instead of simply gluing LED strip to aluminium bar, I decided to make something fancy and inspiring.
To me, the ArtDeco and imperial architecture (hello, Gotham City) are endless sources of excitement and admiration. I spent some time researching old Roman architecture on the Internet, to design the base for the bridge.
I will soon add some magic into it - IR proximity sensors inside each segment to switch it on and off by the hands gesture and three rotary encoder knobs to adjust RGB components of the led strip.

My entry for the Thingiverse BIrdhouse Challenge.

the American Craftsman Bungalow Birdhouse!

This birdhouse features two entrances, upper ventilation through the chimney and windows as well as sloped drains in the base to allow fluid to run out. There are multiple interior platforms built in to the corners so birds can snuggle in places where wind is unable to blow across them. Along with the veranda, there are also three perches for birds to hang out on.

There are two hefty center-aligned screw slots for tree mounting and for extra stability, there are two decorative support trusses so keep it from going anywhere!

This classy casa is designed to print without the use of support material. Even the body prints as a single piece! The base, which includes the porch for the veranda, slides in from the front and comes to a rest with the columns mating with the beam of the roof.

I strongly recommend printing in PLA on a printer with a build platform at least 220 mm long and 150 mm wide. Also there are bridges on this model! My original Replicator can handle them just fine so most printers should. They are around and inch long at their longest.

This can of course be proportionately scaled, however it was designed to best accommodate small birds like finches, blue-jays, chickadees and the like.

This is a watering spout for a 2L bottle or anything that can screw on to soda bottle threads. There is also a Autodesk Inventor file attached that has no threads, so you can adjust as you see fit.
The point here is that, thanks to the wonders of 3D printing, you can repurpose what would be a piece of trash into something useful. This spout would be useful for seedlings or other small plants that require measured amounts of water. Also, this watering spout has 1/8" thick walls. You can't buy something this durable at the store!
I've recently (May 2013) uploaded a modified design file that takes care of some sealing issues and adds threads to the bottle. I added the threads in with an assembly, so the STL file got a lot bigger in the process. It prints great, though. If it still leaks, try taking the rubber gasket out of the 2 L cap, drilling it out and using it as a washer.

It is designed to fit a table 25mm thick and have 10mm MIN access to push the clip fully on.
It is intended to hold 1-2 standard power cables or several smaller USB or other cables and stop them slipping off the back of the desk. Thereby saving you from going all the way under to push them back up.
Also they can be turned upside down withe the loops hanging below the desk to provide a method of hanging some cable up and away from the floor or your feet. A colleague recently crashed his partners pc (sitting opposite) due to cable hanging down.
Hope everyone, anyone finds it useful and of course I will be updating it and uploading other variations.

Inlet distance is 5mm (max cable thickness).

There is a version for 35mm thick table plate and for a 18 mm thick table plate. In the design the distance is about 11mm smaller than what is needed so the part is compressed on the table.

If you have a different thickness, the design can easily be modified in the catia part or as stl.

CascaquaTM is a Home Aquaponics System released free to the 3D printing community to promote sustainable technology and healthy living.

The patent pending CascaquaTM – Cascading Aquaponics System is a closed loop ecologically balanced system that combines the cultivation of plants without soil and the cultivation of fish (hydroponics and aquaculture). It is essentially a mini ecological system where the plants care for the fish and the fish care for the plants symbiotically.

Aquaponics is considered the most natural method of growing organic produce as the produce is entirely free of chemicals which surprisingly not all organic produce is. It is also a very effective method of caring for your fish because the filtration system is natural, continuous and it oxygenates the water.

The Cascaqua features a sculptural tower of cascading grow beds stacked above a beautifully crafted fish bowl. A quiet pump keeps the water recirculating, the pump sound is completely masked by the tranquil trickling as the water reenters the fish bowl.
Start manufacturing your own Cascaqua free by downloading and 3D printing the Cascaqua parts here. You will also need to source a fish bowl, pump and flexible tube all of which can easily be sourced from Amazon.

Parts info:
– 270mm diameter fish bowl with a 170mm diameter opening.
– 300L/hour submersible pump.
– 8mm O.D. flexible tube.
– Printables required qty’s: Cacade planter (qty 5), Outrigger 1 (qty 3), Outrigger 2 (qty 1), Base (qty 1). Note; you may need to adjust the outriggers to suit your fish bowl.

Basic Info from Bitbeam Repository:

Bitbeam is an open source construction toy/hardware prototyping platform. A collection of LEGO Technic compatible parts (beams) which can be combined to construct whatever contraption the user has thought up.

The Bitbeam project aims to define a set of parts which the users themselves can produce using increasingly available technologies for local fabrication like 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC mills.

The name for the project is derived from the full size modular building system Grid Beam (Formerly Box Beam).

Why m-Bitbeam?

m-Bitbeam is an extended Bitbeam 3D printable set that we use when teaching children (STEM education). For more information, see the section of 3D models of the magazine e-Mole (yet Czech only). All models are free to download :-)

All the different knobs in the gallery are made with this Customizer.

I have added some sample knobs for M3 nuts as there are most common used size for 3d printer.
The screwdriver handle for standard 1/4" hex bits is surely a unusual application, but it works great. Especially if you need a extra small one for your project.

If you got problems getting the knob in place, simply heat up the nuts a bit (about 60-80 °C / 140-175 °F) and it easily slips in place.

Please refer the instructions to see the setting I have used for the sample files.

Finger Wrench (digit spanner)

When you are in an awkward position trying to attach a nut to a bolt, a finger wrench may be just what you need. Tight corners especially, and anywhere that requires reaching into the unknown: dropping a spanner down the back of a radiator is all too easy, dropping your finger is not.

I recently discovered this great little gadget on a DIY blog but unfortunately the company that originally supplied it is no longer making the product (why not??) and i can't find anywhere to purchase existing stock.

I had to have one, so I modelled and 3D printed this little beauty and it works a treat!

Easy to use:
There is a gap all down the back side, thereby allowing one size to fit a wide range of fingers. Slip a nut or bolt into the wrench as shown in the two images. Finger pressure keeps the nut or bolt in place. The tapered slot inside the wrench prevents the nut or bolt from turning.

Suitable for 1/2inch nut/bolt and smaller.

Print PLA (http://www.faberdashery.co.uk/products-page/print-materials/mellow-yellow/) or ABS 0.2mm 100% infill for strength.

UPDATE: 110915
I've evolved the design to a 'Pro' version.
A sleeker design and more ergonomic on the finger
FingerWrench_Pro.stl

Thanks to inspiration from MD80: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:997777

UPDATE: 190116
From a suggestion by bitschieber http://www.thingiverse.com/bitschieber/about
A version with more finger tip control to use with smaller fasteners

DISCLAIMER:
Please do not use this item with an impact wrench or any air powered tools - you may well destroy the Finger Wrench and more importantly, your finger!!

Enjoy!

I actually use two of them per bag, that way the bag doesn't swing around as much and makes less noise.

There are both 1mm and 2mm thick versions. I've just added an 8mm thick version for holding heavier items like purses.

Looking on Thingivers I found some more or less simple shelf hooks. But I wanted a more eye catching one, like Tosh Headphone holder.

I have used the Impallari fonts Dosis and Lobster to generate the Text with Inkscape and extruded it with OpenSCAD.

As this thing mainly benefits from the used fonts, which are released under Open Font License. So I am releasing this thing now under GPL license. Many thanks for the great work!
