I like the process of learning to make things. Lately I have been doing a lot of fused glass, using DIY decals that are permanently bonded to the melted glass. I also do various fiber art (spinning, crocheting, felting, weaving) - my current favorite is making crocheted banana slugs http://www.lionbrandyarn.com/cgibin/lionbrand/displayCustomerProjects.fcgi?projectKey=50559. I like to help kids create art and volunteer at several local schools. Sometimes I do ceramics or plaster work, scroll sawing or sewing. My hobbies wax and wane, but I usually come back to something after a break.
I am drooling over makerbots - how can I justify getting one? I am learning Blender (steep learning curve) so I can design cool 3-d printables. (Slug coming soon to a website near you).

I decided to go the Reprap Mendel route and now have a working Wooden Mendel.

Years later, after Rapman, I now have a Lulzbot mini - more fun to just make 3d printed items and not have to tweak the printer all the time.
