I don't mean to disparage the project as I've been using it until I got a proper holder design.
The issues I have with this:use of supports is very troublesome in MakerBot Desktop, the layers are parallel to the shearing force (two PLA prints broke), takes a long time to print and requires cooling and/or slow speed. Hopefully I won't offend anyone, I made a design in two parts that takes less time to print and is more sturdy: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2543519
As a bonus, it allows "quick-changing" spools, if you're into that thing, and clamping onto most surfaces, including the spool holes.

Spool holder (modular)

No offense taken at all. I didn't create these, I was just sharing the file that came with the printer for those that didn't have it. It wasn't on mine originally, I had to get it from the manufacturer. Good job! I agree, you should never have something that carries that much weight, layered parallel like that.

FYI the ctc printer comes with an X3G for this on the SD card. Helpfully, it's called "liaopangtong.x3g". You're probably better with this because then you get to choose your own settings.

This is very true. However, on my SD card, there were no files for anything. Not even software. So I had to get it all from the manufacturer directly. For those that receive empty SD cards, this was just an attempt to make these available instead of waiting for days for the manufacturer to respond with the files.

Thanks!

Yes, I totally agree. My comment was intended to illustrate that this thing is the real deal, not an imitation

Thank you for that!

Could someone post their settings for PLA. Having issues with the threads on the shaft. I think I have heat issues. Any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks

Could you upload the nuts separately as well please ?

Do you add any scale to account for ABS shrinkage ?

Nuts added separately! Thanks again!

Awesome thanks very much :)

No scale added. I have printed 4 sets of these and they fit perfectly. The nuts thread on as they should, and don't come loose. With or without a spool on them, they stay in place.

I will add the file with the nuts only in just a sec.

Thanks!

Just printed one set yesterday, they fit great tanks :)

You're welcome! Glad they worked out for you!

:)

Anyway to remove the rings and just print the long spool itself? My computer rebooted at 90% print and I don't want to reprint the rings again :(

Thanks, fast work you are :)

BTW, which software did you use to remove? I'm brand new and using Simplify3D and MakerWare.

You're welcome! I use MeshLab to create models, and edit .stl files. It's a great, and free program. Hope that helps!

Hi,

I'm in the same boat as you... Just one spool holder in the CTC.

Can you please upload the files again ? There is only one file and it has has 0 bytes ...

Cheers

There ya go! Uploaded again, and this time it definitely went through. Sorry about that. I also included the files for the laser cut spool roller feet that came with the printer. Let me know if there's any more issues!
