i have scaled his up 175%, i have tried all weekend to make the hole diameter 8.15. no luck ? anyone have information for a beginning

I like this.... What are the dimentions please, and what shaft size are you using.
Thanks... I might make one of these soon...

Is this designed to generate power? How would you go about turning this into a power source?

this isn't bad, I've been working on a comparable VAWT here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9958http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

Small vertical wind turbine

This is a great model! Since it's not self starting, how do you intend to use it? Can you combine it with a Savonius turbine?

I'm mostly planning on using it as a desk model so I hadn't given it too much thought.

Maybe a short Savonius add-on would allow it to self start, but there would be a drag penalty at operating speeds.

Now if you could design a one-way torque coupling to a small Savonius, so it could spin freely if it is moving faster...

Another trick is to have a Anemometer connected to an arduino, and if the wind is above a threshold (Time
&
amp; Speed) then the arduino could send power to the turbine to kick start it. If your good with code, you also could plot wind speed times, power created and other factors. good stuff!

what about kickstart it every 15 minutes if the voltage produced is below a threshold?
