A custom brushless motor stabilisation gimbal designed to fit my 3D printed quad copter frame. The design may be a little too specific to be useable by many, it is designed for specific motors and the GoPro Hero HD (1st Gen) however I will also be putting together a variation for the GoPro 3.

Required parts...

8 X M2x12 for motors
8 X M3x6 for motors
2 X M3x25 for connecting front and back arm
2 X M3 Nut for connecting front and back arm
2 X M3x50 for adjustable counter balance.

Various M3 bearings, washers or nuts on the M3x50 to balance the gimbal.

Hi, i need to modify the roll support (file: "Gopro_Gimbal_Roll_Arm_Mount.stl") how i can do that? I try to open .scad file but i can't open, the program show me an error. How i can do that?! I can share my modification without any problem. Thanks a lot!

But i have another question, i buy this motors "iPower GBM2208-80T" and i can plug a 4S battery in the control board?! I burn something? The board is like martinez by hobbyking.

I think the boards should be ok for 4s but you should get the manufacturer details, just make sure you don't connect the polarity the wrong way.

Yes, the board says until 6S, but the question is, the output is 11.1v or the same as input?!
Polarity + with + and - with - as usual right?!

Hi! Another question for you. We are trying to get the control board working, and are adjusting the PID settings. Can you tell me what your settings are to help get us in the ballpark? It's just shaking right now. We reflashed the board and all that. Thanks!

Hi, can you let me know if you have the Hero 1 or Hero 3 version and which firmware version you are on and I will try and create a config file for you, it may be a day or 2 before I can get back to you though.

I will post them up shortly, I had hoped to tidy them up a bit before posting but have just not had time. Just be aware that they may be a bit confusing as they were a bit of a progressive development.

I've made one, but I don't have a quad, gopro and gimbal controller/motors yet.. design looks great though, except for the fact that the record button is blocked. Will post in the made section when I've partially assembled it.

If I have time I will make a record button slot, on mine I tend to just open the door, slide out and then start recording, on the Hero 3 I use the wifi remote anyway.

I've heard stories of the wifi interupting with the quad, so I'm not comfortable with using it.

I've ordered the motors yesterday.
I'm very interested in the BOM for the rest ot the parts i need to build.

My iflight gimbal motors came with shafts- did you cut them, or did your motors not have any protruding?

The motors I have did not have protruding shafts.

I cut mine, they work fine. Thanks!

Added a version for the Hero 3, notice it needs a bit more counter balance than the Hero 1, In my case I use some bearings as the counter balance weight. You need to print a new camera case, door and pitch arm mount all the other parts are interchangeable between the 2 cameras.

Great job! What controller are you using for the gimbal?

It is a martinez based controller with the latest beta firmware.
