Anyone know how many links to use on the Solidoodle 3? Also what percentage infill is recommended? Thanks.

I love the idea of this, and I hated the umbilical, but this just didn't work well for me on my SD3. I printed everything including an extra half dozen links for the larger printer, but even with a bundle guide to protect the y-axis belt and guide the chain over and on top of the belt to make extra room, I still have enough doubling over of the chain when the extruder is in the back-left corner that I lose about a 2cmx2cm corner where I can't print. I think the way the cables are oriented to the NEMA will still help with my chaffing problem (I lost the thermocouple and heater wires at separate times but in the last month). So maybe I keep that part and use a traditional umbilical to the grommet.

Did you remove the Kapton tape on the extruder stepper so that your "link_nema_holder" would fit? Is that ok to do will it damage the printer at all?

Thanks for posting by the way.

How do you print the round end without support? Flipping it over makes the layers go along the width and makes the part weak. any suggestions?

To strengthen ABS prints, try an acetone wash to reinforce the part. I dip structural parts into a jar of acetone and let them dry out. It helps improve the layer adhesion.

I had the same problem, so I have modified both ends to make them a bit stronger; see my remix version. Cheers Lawsy for yet another awesome Solidoodle accessory! :D
