Summary

This is my remix of the iPhone 6 dock with integrated Apple Watch Stand.
I customize it in order to be able to dock an iPhone 6/6s with a case. Also included some minor redesign (like speakers holes, ...).
I posted 2 version of the model :

  • The full model, for those who like to print with support
  • A splitted model (watch base separated), for those who prefer to print it in 2 parts with no need for support.

I'll probably give this to a friend that doesn't have a cover on their phone as I have a pretty thin cover and won't quite reach the plug to charge. I might play with your design to try and enlarge the phone slot so I can use it too. Easy to print not too much hassle, I did reduce the speed to 80% so it gets a nice finish. Thanks.

Thanks Shodan, pretty cool design. I like the sliced overhanging part which printed just fine separately and no supports needed.

Printed this TWICE and it has a crack / layer separation in the exact same place. You can even see it in his main photo just above the bottom of the apple... Same spot on both prints. You can even see this in many other users uploads.

If you open this in TinkerCAD, you can see where the error occurs. I have uploaded pictures under the "Made It" for reference.

Avoid this file until it's fixed as the back will crack and break off eventually. Also, it takes a long time to print just to be disappointing.

The split version prints fine.

Great design! It took me a while to figure out how to get the lightning cable in (you have to apparently force it through the far left channel and then once it's all the way through force the cable through to the middle and then push it down). It's great and looks nice sitting on my desk. Perfect for iOS development so I don't have to pick up my phone all the time.

Hello,
Unfortunatly, the dock is not heavy enough to allow you to grab and unplug the phone with just one hand.

Cool, no worries. Thanks for the reply

Is this dock heavy enough that you can grab your phone off without the dock lifting off the table? Might add some weights somewhere on the bottom once the new printer gets in.

Is the single-piece model printable without supports? It looks as though I'd have to rotate it over so the Apple logo faces down. What angle is it tilted to?

The tilt angle is 80 degrees, but I doubt it is possible to print it in one piece without support even by tilting it.

How do I get the charger to fit

printed with PLA with recommended settings and the tolerances for the lightning cable and the watch circular part did not fit. The wire raceways also did not fit a standard apple cable.

Could you make one with a bigger width for the case at the bottom? I LOVE this model, and it is so close, 3 mm on each side should do it.

Any chance you have the solid part file still? I don't have access to my Solidworks atm and don't know how to convert the mesh/stl back into a solid with faces in Fusion360.

Any chance of an iPhone 6 plus version?

Any chance you can tell me the watch adapter size in your drawing? I like the fit of it but I don't know what clearance you used.
thanks

Hello,
diameter is 27.9mm, depht is 6.9mm

So I printed this in PLA do avoid warping as much as possible and came out great. The cable is a bit tight but if you make a chamfer on the slot then the lightning cable goes right in.
Any chance you can add and modify the back for a 6+? Along with the cable port and all. I don't have the cad file to do it myself. And a slighter larger slot to fit a BookBook case.
Thanks.

My Cables aren't fitting in the slots :( i've been sanding like mad but i don't think sanding is gonna help me with the lightning dock.

Does this fit the lifeproof case?

Can I print it in one peice with no supports and will it hold an otter box commuter case
Thx respond ASAP have a good day

Not sure to clearly understand what you mean, however if you want to print it in ine piece, supports are mandatory.

Is the slope enough to turn on night mode?

Hello,

No unfortunatly the slope is not sufficient to turn on the night mode.
Besides, the stand is not really designed to dock the watch "horizontally".

Love this design, are you able to make this for the 6s plus?

Couldn't you just increase the scale appropriately to accommodate the wider 6+?

Well, it's a little bit more complicated since the inside cable area must not be scaled. Moreover, I have no 6+ to validate ...
Did you already have a look at the original version which was designed for iPhone 6+ (but without case) here http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:864011 ?
