Summary
This is a remix of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:882810 . Thanks to djui for providing the Antimony source file so I could modify it.
38mm version
The original version was made for the 42mm version of the Apple Watch, however I always needed to lift my Apple Watch a bit when in the stand so that it will be charged. Therefore I've modified the original design so that the 38mm version fits well.
larger cable channels
I made the cable channels a bit larger to also fit my charging cable. It could be even a bit larger than in my modified design.
charger removal slot
I was always afraid I could not remove the charger from the dock once it's plugged in. To overcome this anxiety I added a slot from the bottom that is invisible and can be used to remove the charger cable.
Notes:
If you look at my pictures you see three designs:
- the one by djui
- my first modification with a charger removal slot
- the final version optimized for my 38mm Apple Watch and a larger removal slot
Tip for printing: The first version by djui I printed with more infill, so it's a bit heavier. My later versions are too lightweight and if I'd reprint them I'd use more infill again.
Since Antimony creates huge STL files which I couldn't print I then post processed the 100MB STL file using MeshLab so that it could be printed and now its 3.5MB in size.
I also added the Antimony source files again to keep the spirit of sharing.
Update
Now a 42mm version of the final STL file is also available. I simplified the STL quite a bit, so you can leave a comment if a version with more faces is needed, but you can also use Antimony to create a highly detailed version. I also forgot to mention that the STL files went through netfabb in order to remove any model errors, if any.
Have fun!
