This is a case for an automatic chicken coop door DIY project of mine.
The lid is a snap fit when printed on my printer.
The arduino timelord library uses longitude and latitude to calculate the sunset and sunrise and this is used to control open and closed states.
The hardware setup is as follows:
Stepper motor controlled with Easy Driver board turning a threaded rod for max torque and zero pull back from the door when open.
A DS3231 RTC clock board for time keeping.
An NRF24L01 board for remote monitoring.
A lithium ion battery.
A 5V 0.175W solar cell.
An energy-harvesting DIY pcb for charging the li-ion battery when the sun is up.
Arduino Pro Mini for controlling everything. All boards/setup modded for battery use.
