Summary

As the title says , this is a mount for the e3D hotend in bowden configuration.

All in all this was a fun project to convert my printer from direct drive to bowden.
The original leapfrog fans still supply enough airflow for the cooling fins to remain cool to the touch. So i didn't add the e3D fan.

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

No

Infill:

30-40%

Notes:

  • I printed it in PLA to reduce warping.
  • Designed to be printed without supports.

additional info

in order to successfully convert to bowden you need to do a few things:

  • Relocate extruder steppers
  • Reverse the direction of the extruder steppers (can be done by reversing a coil or change it in the configuration.h file)
  • Change the thermistor setting in configuration.h to 5
  • PID tuning (very important) (M303)
  • Put the PID values in your marlin configuration.h file

Hey! Nice work! I've been thinking about doing a similar thing to the Leapfrog Creatr I use as well. Do you have more details about how you changed the extruder motor mount, specifically what stl files you used?

Thanks

Hey, I used the original aluminium block where the motors where mounted on originally. I drilled new holes in the top plate and mounted the block there. However, it's a bit tricky to get the fillament through at the moment

Great design!!!! Are you able to feed the filament correctly? Is the bowden setup working properly?

Hi, Sorry for the late reply.
The feeding of the filament is kinda tricky (but works) and the bowden works, but i'm having trouble dialing in the retracts, so i'm planning on reverting back to Direct drive
