This thing is a very simple replacement part for a Syma X5SC quadcopter's foot.
This design prints much faster (takes just a few minutes to print) and is lighter than my previous one (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1141251). It's also lighter than an original Syma foot.
You will need two pieces of 3mm diameter filament (about 6-7cm long) that will take place in the 3mm diameter holes at the base (going thru it about 7mm - see photo) and the two other 3mm diameter holes at the tip. If you're using ABS, they can be glued in place with the use of acetone.
I printed the parts with ABS but used HDPE for the filament parts (unglued).
I think HDPE filament does a better job because it's softer and bends easily without breaking which is a good point here.
Just mount it like the original foot and fix it with the help of the original small screw.
This foot design is
- easy and fast to print
- nearly unbreakable
- modular (length)
