I recently shared a design that lets you mount your phone to a gorillapod. I was (and am) really proud of the design, but it's a pretty niche thing.

This design is more universal. It makes use of a standard 1/4-20 nut and lets your phone be mounted to any tripod (including the gorillapod)

The model is fully parametric as before, so you can specify the dimensions of your phone, as well as that of the nut. as with the previous design, if you get dimensions that work with your phone, please comment. I'll upload an STL so that subsequent users won't need to play around with openSCAD.

I was introduced to this site in a class I am taking. Is there an adaptation for this for an iPhone SE? It is just what I'm looking for as I have a Joby gorilla tripod that I would love to use with my iPhone SE. Many thanks for your suggestions and I was so excited to see this!

One of the files is an OpenSCAD .scad

You can edit cameraWidth and cameraHeight (in mm) for whatever cross-section you want.

is the open scad in in or mm?

Had print this with pla, but it is to weak on the clamp side so i breaks. Need some improvement for more stiffness.

Hello !
If you want this fixed, download the .scad file, open it with OpenScad and change the 'gripperthickness' parameter to maybe .. 3mm ?

Prints fine but...

Hello! i have a huawei ascend 510, and i cant really customize it myself, as i have no clue how..

This looks great. Just tweaked it to fit my phone with case on. Hope to print it in the next few days. i'll be printing with a makerbot, this is all still new to me, but would it be best to print this with the "full support" option on? and is there a better way than another to place it on the platform? sideways? long solid side down?

short answer: you should be fine printing it on its side as it comes.

long answer: At the risk of telling you something you already know: the Makerbot can successfully print the letter "Y" (a 45degree overhang,) and the letter "H" (a straight bridge between 2 supports.) It can't print the letter "T" (a straight horizontal into nowhere,) without some form of suppor
t material under that overhang.

I kept this in mind when designing and laying the part on its side. all overhangs and openings are of the "H" and "Y" types. even the bolt hole has a flat top so the circle never exceeds a 45 degree overhang.

Thanks for your interest in the design! I hope it pri
nts nicely for you.

"Y", "H", "T"... what a brilliant way to describe overhangs that'll work and not. I'm gonna steal that.

jk ;)

I love the design ... printing!

excellent! did you need to make any changes to make it work with your phone?

also, it was great to see you randomly at makerfaire nyc. what an amazing event.
