what prohibits the jack slipping off on either side?

On the Golf 1 there is a neat "pocket" just behind the Lip that its normal Jack fits on to. It worked just fine for the moment, but I will do a wide U shaped connector piece, that would fit better! Have done something like that at the bottom of the jack, that have made it a lot more stable. Thank you for pointing that out. !
