I have created a very loud whistle that emits a steady, ear pleasing tone. It is simple, but well exceeds all requirements for the Thingiverse Make It Loud competition, and works great! This simple whistle easily reaches sound levels above 120dB. I measured the loudness in decibels with the very reliable Sound Shack decibel meter in an enclosed, quiet room. Simplicity is beauty. Thank you Thingiverse!
Loud, Nice Sounding Whistle
Make It LOUD Whistle!
This whistle sounds great, and is very loud. The Printing process is simple, and it works right away! As a student, I was encouraged to enter my best design, and this is what I have to offer. Simplicity is Beauty.
The Design Process
After several weeks of research, I concluded that a whistle would create the loudest noise for the print size and requirements given by the Make it Loud Competition. After making several more complex whistle designs, I decided to try simplifying to get a higher noise level, and better sound. With that, I created this simple, yet loud, and still beautiful sounding whistle.
Why I'm Entering
Thingiverse's Make It Loud competition is a great 3D printing community competition, that I believed that I could compete in. As a high school student, my design skill levels cannot compete with many professionals in the field, but this was a great opportunity for me. Making it loud was a simple objective that I believe I have completed with extreme success. And the prizes are awesome too of course. Thank you Thingiverse.
