Summary

I redesigned Prusa's z motor mount, because I disliked the M3-Stuff.

Yet untested. (Update: Tested it. It works.)

i made 2 of these for my prusa... making 2 more right now for my next prusa, nice simple design

I can't wait to print some. What a great idea!

Just printed a pair. These should totally be folded into the standard Prusa build.

BTW for some reason this item build with the base at -8mm. I had to grab the SCAD and translate it back up to 0 to print it on my RepRap. SF was generating crazy stuff otherwise.

I took the .scad from Greg Frost and changed it. Obviously, he already had made changes to Prusa's original file.

Printrun had no difficulties with the base. ;)

Weird, I am running printrun/SFact too and it did not like at all. SF generated code with Z at -7.67mm (-8mm plus 0.33mm layer) and Marlin simply refused to listen to any such foolishness and ignored the command. Maybe it's Marlin doing it. In any case, moving it up 8mm solved it for me.

Thanks for an excellent idea. A handful less vitamins to make a Prusa and no downside that I can see.

I am using printrun, sprinter, and SF41 (with some changes I made, see http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?154,91413,91727#msg-91727)http://forums.reprap.org/read..... That works pretty well.

Bah, now I have to reprint my z mounts (making a new prusa) because these are just to awesome.

Good stuff. I'm about to start printing my first child and I'll be using this.

It should work, it's almost the same piece on the emaker huxley (and it works :) )

que? You 'disliked the m3 stuff'? If that is about metric versus imperial: good luck!

No. I just spared the two M3 bolts, nuts and washers of the original part.
