After having adapted the Rotoscan's spool for Mendel http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:11447, I wanted one for the Huxley. Also inspired by this idea of an horizontal spindle placed under the bot http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3680
Perfect for small workspaces and carry-plug-n-print demos in the street, conferences, etc. :)
It can hold 50-60m of 1,75mm filament, and was also made to quickly swap between spools of filament.
26/10/2011 : 4th revision ! (fusing the connectors, and added filament guides)
24/12/2011 : base-guide_v2 (widened the opening of the guide)
10/01/2012 : fixed the spindle .stl
See the wiki : http://reprap.org/wiki/Huxley_mini-spool
You'll need M8 threaded rods (2~240mm and 2~150mm)
There is two versions of the spool, one is made of 4 parts, and the other is in one piece for larger build plate.
Eventually add a little piece of tape around the spindle if it spin too freely.
