This is a destroyed Death Star laser turret intended to fit inside the hollow "Death Star Laser Turret - Simple" found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1194967.
When the two parts are combined the configuration allows for storage of both an operational and destroyed turret in the same volume.
The internal details are made up from my imagination and are not intended to be accurate to any movie prop.
The STL file is Cura scaled and oriented for printing.
UPDATE: 5/29/2017 The Destroyed Mod2 STL file includes a destroyed base insert with slightly more prominent surface detail. It is interchangeable with the previous version.
I would love to see what someone can do painting this up with blast marks and glowing hot spots.
The details are self-supporting but if retraction is set very low you can randomly generate strings between the details that look like cables, conduit, and wires, and help add to the messy blasted look. Depending on the orientation and the number of turret bases you have printing at the same time you can get a unique looking result for each one.
Use 0.8 mm thick shell, bottom and top. One object takes about an hour to print.
Fit and Finish
Any hairs or blobs generated on the outside will need to be removed to allow the destroyed base to fit up inside the base of the “Simple” turret.
The raised panels on the outside surface are physically there but are very light. They may need to be painted to show up better.
