No experimentation with other fans. Re slot size: I had a gut feeling that the air pressure is higher at the fan side of the exit slot, and the pressure is lower at the far side. So the slot is smaller closer to the fan to restrict the airflow, and allow more of the air to be pushed around to the far side of the torus. No idea if it actually works that way!
Hello, I don't think that it would work. The new fan mount is a little slimmer and smoother than the old FDM one, so it just won't grip. Have a look at the remixes of this thing though - there's more work been done to make it fasten on better. Good luck!
Remember to come back and post what you've printed as Make.
It's good for the designer and the community (that means you)!

and the Apple App Store.
Works great! Only problem: I can't see how the print is going on any more! The hotend is hiding in the circle...
Is there any reason, why the gap, where the air exits gets bigger at the end? Did you do experiments with a radial fan?

Well that makes sense, thanks!
I might do a redesign using a radial fan. :)
Please do! I've been looking everywhere for a good radial fan mount!
Would this work with the standard injection-molded E3D fan mount
