We have a similar setup at Train Mountain only we use them for our signal system to make insulated joints. A block on each side of the rail with a spacer in the rail gap. I would be interested how they hold with the UV rays outdoors. Looks good. Russ

Hi Russ. Yes i will be interested to see how they last with UV rays. I did wonder about dipping them in a UV protective varnish. I would think that we do not get quite as much sun here though. I deal with signalling at our club track. I am experimenting with 3D printed parts for our track circuiting as well. I have already installed a number of printed parts for the points interlock reed switches. As these are under covers, the UV problem should not arise. Cheers, Peter

UV is a big issue here, we are at 4300 feet and not much in the way of cloudy days. We use recycled plastic ties (SLEEPERS) and when we get them they are almost pitch black but after two or three seasons they are a light concrete gray! Good luck with your chair project it looks very promising! Russ
