It looks as if the rear support isn't far enough towards the end of the handle: when the cable is connected to the rear of the solder iron, it becomes somewhat more tail heavy, and may just tip over. Bigger seperation between supports may increase stability.

Doesn't the soldering iron get to hot and melt the plastic?

It is awesome how this iron works, only the final tip gets hot, after 10 minutes on 300ºC you can touch the metal near the case.
