A macaque monkey was brought to our radiology department for CAT-scan and MRI scan. This type of monkey is widely used in neuroscience research.
I extracted the bones and brain out of the scans and decided to print them.
The mandible parts do not require support, but others do need support.
I used Meshmixer to make the supports.
The left and right parts of the main skull will be glued together, also the anterior and posterior parts of the brain.
Install small magnets (4mm diameter) into the holes around the skull and glue them in place.
So you will be able to open the skull, remove the brain, and the put them back again!
The skull parts (the bony parts) are extracted from CAT-scan.
The brain is extracted from MRI.
