What is the purpose of the small nut holders attached with the springs?

I just printed the parts - the holes are a bit to large for metric M4 but will do (I hope).

These pieces are a sort of anti-backlash mechanism. I believe the ends sometimes got stuck when moving down and the bottom nuts would pop out. These keep it tight down against the bottom nut.

I think it was make for a 5/16th nut. I live in the USA so metric is still harder to come by.

Thanks for the Info! I changed my design for metric axis. The Bottom nut sits here really tight and is fixed in addition with some silicone.

Can you upload a pic of how you attach the belts to the X carriage?

What tool did you design these with? I'm curious about the source files, as I think I'd like to adapt this carriage to allow a Greg's Wade on dkennel's Aluminum Mendel. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16076http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

Aluminum Mendel

They were done in solidworks.

The source files are located in the .rar file attached here.

Very nice! Have you lost any length along the X or Z axes? And does this design increase or decrease your layer alignment consistency? I'm very excited about this!

Ok, I got it put together and it seems that I have lost some Z.

Im redesigning the Carriage to raise the extruder up more, to regain most if not all that I lost with the vertical design.

Will be posting the new files when I get the bugs worked out. :)

What mendle did you make this design for.?

This should work with both the sells and prusa variant.

I will be installing it on a prusa soon and let you know how it turns out.
