Summary

Thermostat adapter which allows using modern electronic thermostats with M30x1,5 threads on (older) M28x1,5 radiator mounts.

The adapter consists of two parts. The pin has been designed with a length of 20 mm (4.4 mm diameter). Different thermostats/radiators may require a different length.

The adapter has to be printed in ABS (or any other material with a high melting point). PLA gets too soft when the radiator heats up.

The adapter can be printed with or without support. It has to be printed in ABS (or other materials with a high melting point) due to thermal stability. PLA is not suitable.

In what program did you design it ? im looking for a 30 degrees one so i can read the temperature on my danfoss valve.

It was designed in Autodesk Fusion.

Could you share the Autodesk file?

Hi Andreas,

replacing the M30 thread with another M28 would make this a M28 to M28 adapter? I don't get it...

Regards,
Aurel

Hi Sorry!

My radiator has the size M20x1,5 if i understood everything correctly.

My new danfoss digital thermostat "living Connect Z" do fit on the adapter, but the adapter doesn't fit on the radiator
So M20x1,5 to M30x1,5 it should be.

Regards

A

Hi. Do you print in PLA or ABS? I have designed similar adapter to fit M30x1.5 thermostats over Danfoss RA mounts. I've printed it in PLA and when radiator heated up, adapter just snapped off a valve. It just became soft and could not hold the shape anymore. Have no luck with ABS due to warping.

Hi, printed in ABS, should have added this in the description in the first place. With this part I did not have any warping issues (build plated heated to 110 degrees + glue on blue tape) you may want to give yours another try. PLA is getting quite soft at temperatures around 60 degrees, which radiators can reach and therefore is not suited for such adapters. ABS works fine.
