7 dart cylinder for Nerf Hammershot. Was originally going to be a work in progress due to initially missing rotations a few times but after a couple dozen cocks everything seemed to settle and now it never jams. Including Solidworks files as well. Make sure to remove the stock air restrictor.
EDIT: Now includes a cylinder that fits FVJ darts better, a spinner with a looser fit, and a peg that fits the Sweet Revenge better.

Printer Brand:

Simple Black

0.2 mm

Spinner seems generally fine at 20% infill for most printers but may require higher.

Joining Cylinder and Spinner Post

Softly hammer spinner post into back of cylinder until surfaces are flush with one another. Graphite lubricate helps but is not needed.

Why do you need to remove the air restrictor? Does it interfere somehow?

Also, I've never done any nerf modding so I don't really know much about it at all: what is the air restrictor even there for?

As I haven't printed this myself yet, I'm not sure why exactly it has to be removed, I'll let someone else explain that. An air restrictor is a small piece that blocks air from passing through the blaster if fired without a dart. That's why you hear a more deafened, prolonged sound if you try to fire a blaster without an ammo. It is used to prevent damage to the blaster during dry firing.

Printed the cylinder along with the smaller spinner. Ended up being too large to fit. Opening up the files of both spinners in Simplify3D and when drug into each other they appear to be the exact same size. Any chance on getting a fix for this?

Whenever I try to print this particular file on my DaVinci Jr w It comes out as a fuzz. Other prints work fine. Am I doing something wrong?

tutorial for installing?

what parts are needed for a hammershot? whats FVL? what about the _smaller?

Just the first 3. FVJ are full vinyl jacket darts which are just slightly thicker so the holes in that cylinder are a touch bigger. The smaller spinner is for people who felt the default size was too tight a fit.

thank you!

looks like the smaller spinner is corrupted. when I tried to load into makerware, it said it could not be inserted.
also the bigger spinner is nowhere close to fitting.

Weird, thanks for letting me know. I resaved the stl file and uploaded that. Seems to be working now as far as I can tell.

whats the best files to print? there are way too many to sort through, delete all the unedited ones.

You just need the first 3. The rest are all edited, but they comprise a cylinder with larger holes fro FVJ darts, a slightly smaller spinner for people that want a looser fit, and a peg that fits in the similar but different Sweet Revenge blaster.

I might scale this down will it affect anything

Most likely, what do you plan on scaling down and why?

The rotator it wasnt fitting for me

If anyone else's printer is taking too long or is screwing up like mine or Dosnt want supports just rotate it so it's facing up and it works much better

Each tooth not touch

My stupid printer keeps printed support stuck there between each touch how do I make it stop that. I have a lulz bot mini.

The rotation mech is way too tight of a fit in the cylinder, I just broke mine trying to get it in. https://i.imgur.com/eZkR1v6.jpg

I went and made a new one that's slightly smaller. Hopefully that works better.

What are the dimensions of this? I want to make my own.

R people complaining about the rotation teeth in the barrel breaking or the ar
tooth breaking?

I used this modified dart spinner and have had no issues at all. If anything, it's even better because it slides in very easily into the cylinder.

Alternate (stronger) Nerf Hammershot 7 dart spinner

This is an amazing concept, but i don't know if it was how i printed it/ what material i used, but the teeth on the spinner portion snapped off real fast.
If you really want to, you can get the spinner printed in metal for overkill, but that was really the only solution i could think of.

I used your modified dart spinner and have had no issues with it. Thanks for working on such an awesome mod!

Had one made a week ago and its working very well. Even with the AR still in place.
I had to sand down the interior of the shell a bit so the drum would spin freely. And also had to do a lot of cleaning on the spinner as it too would get stuck against the casing.
Now the drum spins just like the stock one does and the AR catches each barrel correctly.
As the barrels are not tapered like the ones in the stock drum this also seems to get better performance. Seems almost on par with a spring modded Lawbringer I have around. And those are practically identical internals.

Would it be possible for you to make a spinner version where the points from the bottom section meet the tube section rather than point away? It seems they always break off for me after a short time. Other than that great modeling

Im having a problem with the spinner fitting into the cylinder, anybody know why?

Mine fit perfectly, but did not actually fire the bullets.
I think that the little nubs that prevent the dart from going all the way through the cylinder are also causing the airflow to weaken before actually reaching the dart. Did anyone else have this problem?

Hey I want to get this printed at my library but I need to know how long this will take to print:) thanks!!

That seem like fairly slow print. For me it was about 3 hours, 30 minutes, and 10 minutes for the cylinder, shaft and peg respectively.

would it work for the rebelle five by five?

I've only seen pictures of it's internals but it looks the exact same as the hammershot. I'd be surprised if it doesn't work.

I have the spinner printing now and I am putting this into a Rebelle, I'll let you know if it works here. Also, I am using ABS on an Afinia and it is not sealing with a 2 layer wall thickness using ABS, so post work has to be done. Will report.

And did it fit into the Rebelle? I am thinking of picking a couple up and would eventually like to drop theese drums into them as well.

yes, it fit the rebelle, BUT after I made the video, the toothed spinner broke-- design flaw, I haven't gone over it yet.

I wish someone that is better with software could fix the spinner issue. I have a printer and want to print this but no matter what I do, the spinner always malfunctions. I know Out of darts has reworked this and got it to work great but he will not share the file. I just want this for personal use I'm not in it to make money.

what spinner issue are you having? I have printed this and using it in my personal hammershot with no issues.
You DID remove the air restictor I hope.

Every spinner I print has an issue rotating. It will rotate 6 of the barrels but the 7th one never will rotate. It always gets stuck. I've tried different infills and layer hight but the same problem every time.

Also, at what point of the action is it getting stuck? The initial issue that I had to deal with was that I could cock the hammer but when decocked or fired the internal mechanism would be stuck in the slot against the surface until I gave it a knock.

Did you smooth down the problem slot at all? I recall when first making this that it was the rough layers of the surface at the bottom of the U channel slot caused more problems rather than the sides.

Maybe that is it for him. When I printed my shaft I had to cut all the strings and I filed the areas between the high points smooth and both sides of the high points smooth because even if printed in .1 the shaft was not smooth.
also Fowla87 did you print the shaft standing up with the splines with the points facing the build plate? using cura as the slicer?

sorry cant offer any input other than I printed it at 100% fill and its shot 1000+ shots no problems. Do you have the orange zombie hammershot?

I had some difficulties getting this to work with a hammershot that still had its air restrictor. Once I took that out it worked perfectly.

Oh yes, thank you. I do those immediately naturally so I forgot that has to be done. I'll put that in the descriptions.

it will work with the air restrictor tab but not as reliable as the little orange tab that springs out will catch the inside of the cylinder. this is one gun that removing the air restrictor does not impact performance but either increases it or keeps it the same. so you both are correct that mod should be done regardless.

Thank you horsengineer for this mod. Have you thought about extra barrels for the flipshot? or a elite dart barrel for the cycloneshock?

I never considered any of the mega dart blasters. That's such a good idea though, I could probably fit in a few extra shots as well. I'm tempted to run out and pick one up now.

Is it better to print the cylynder and other parts sideways (as in your cad files) or standing up? Would this affect the seal? rotation smoothness? or should I just sand everything, slap on a generous amount of silicon grease, and call it a day?

Rotate it so it's printed standing up. Also for that spinner part I find that having the grooves on the bottom is best. Sorry about that, sometimes axis get mixed around between solidworks and the printer software.

which grooves on the spinner do you put on the bottom? The first one I printed I have been having problems with one barrel not wanting to rotate. Any suggestions would be great, your spinner in the picture looks so clean did you do .2 resolution and .20 infill?

Thank you

im having the same issue. seems one of the peaks keep getting rounded off after being used once. printed 3 of them happened on all.
