PLA is apparently not strong enough for this application. Worked for a month or so, then this happened:

Failure mode: many tiny bits.

I love it! I designed a somewhat useless thing as a toy and you went and made something useful out of it!

Update: The vacuum works! Suction is almost as good as the original - I think the printed weight is a bit high (I beefed up the walls cuz I was afraid it'd blow apart), but the vacuum lives on. Once in the housing the balance seems to be much better - I guess the shroud adds a good bit of stability.

Thanks for putting up the original (in scad form!), with that already done it took me like, 20 minutes to get the print started.

Also, it printed perfectly the first time :-)

Hi, the gcode doesn't really help, as that is very printer-specific. Can you upload the stl file?
