Hey I know people who work in the medical field. Maybe print in FDA approved PETG and sterilize in a autoclave? I definitely would never recommend it to be used for real surgery's though.

Brackett27, I uploaded the ViaCAD .vcp file.

Making your PLA prints FLEXIBLE V2 (and ABS smoothing!)

I just printed it at .3mm with 100% infill and there was absolutely no hinge at all.

Puck, I uploaded the original .vcp file if you want to try editing it.

Sorry to say that my attempt to make this was a fail. The PLA snaps out of the gate at every joint upon first try. I may try it again in nylon to see if that makes a difference. If you were to post your CAD file one might be able to engineer a different joint system for it.

The curling wings were a stroke of genious. But my ABS print snapped at the joing the first time I tried clipping it together.

Thanks for uploading a version without the 'wings' on it. I had real trouble with the wings on my SD300 because the laminated PVC-type material was too resilient to snap them off. I tried trimming them with scissors but I couldn't cut away close enough for the clamp to work.

Now I built the "Hemostat no wings" version and it works great! I posted a video of it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XZRWpzHrwchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?...

I printed one but a coworker broke it at the middle hinge before realizing how delicate it was.

After it came apart I realized it could be stronger if the middle hinge was built like a knuckle joint with only a thin wall to hold the pieces together (not serving as a hinge). Here's a sketch of the idea. I'm not sure exactly what the geometry should be for the thin holding part.

Hi Ben, Interesting. I'll have to play around with that. If anyone else has improvements, I'd love to see them.

Have the version without wings to upload?
