I modified the design to work with 25mm X 25mm 80/20.

Print STL twice. Then follow original instructions.

I cut my 80/20 beams to 30cm so the spool would fit on top of MakerBot.

Isn't it cheaper to just print this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7105http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... if your using makerbot spools? I like 80/20 but seems like overkill. But then again I don't have any! :)

MakerBot Filament Spool Holder

That part gave too much friction. Was making extruder stop. I used 80/20 because I has some around!

My TOM might also be suffering from the issue of the Mk7 Extruder stopping due to heavy spools causing too much friction on the filament spool holder http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7105http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... .

I'll let you know if the 'Filament Spooler with 80/20' improves the situation.

That does make sense for those heavy spools. I've contemplated a bearing version of thing 7105.

Well a bit overkill it is 8-) http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7105http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... works fine but they are a bit to small (in height) for the big 2.2 kg spools i use/have (but the work none the less). Also the big spools prevent me from mounting them on my makerbot.
