Summary

These are to replace the wooden bearing sleeves on the Y axis.
There is a new all aluminum bearing sleeve that PB sells as an upgrade for the LCv2, this is a cheap and nearly as good alternative.

Print the file 4 times for a set of 2 bearing sleeves, the original fastener hardware can be re-used, but i recommend lock nuts and washers over the stock hardware.

PLA - 2 perimeters & 25% infill is plenty strong.

Just a tip: when assembling, put the bearings on an 8mm rod first, then install in these sleeves. if the bearings end up too tight, try again until you get them aligned right. it likely wont be possible to put the bearings in these sleeves without being on the rod, for alignment, unless you are really lucky.

hmm,. I installed the bearings without
rod just fine, the cavity for the bearings is (should be) slightly smaller than
the bearings themselves, so the act of closing the two clam shells together and
then compressing the two clam shells together via the screws should auto align
the bearings every time. But using the rod as added linear assurance during assembly cant hurt. i found having the bearings ball channels apposing (not lined up between the two) to be the most rigid and smooth glide. but if you are binding up, to get a little wiggle room line them up.

On my print the cavities are smaller than the bearings and required pressing in, in order to assemble. one thing to keep in mind is that every one's printer will have a slightly different calibration. also, different materials and ambient temperatures will result in different amounts of shinkage and warping. it a good idea when making a design public to accommodate for these differences.

I have yet to install these on my printer - its going to take some work to do so at the very lease completely disassembling the bed and possibly some things inside in order to drill and get the bolt holes right. plus i have a ton of other upgrades to do too. i will add these to the upgrade box and do them all at some point. but, the design and idea looks very good. i already have some lateral play in my bearings which are just sitting in the laser cut channels as part of the original design.

Aye, this print does have a tight tolerance window, so variance from printer to printer could be problematic, but its an item to add stability/accuracy, frequently parts like that have to be spot on. And my thought on variance is that you make the model accurate, and you adjust your printer till its closer to accurate rather than me changing the model to factor for only one specific printers inaccuracy (in that case its still inaccurate for everyone else,. my printer is currently at ~+.04mm accuracy if your near that this should print right. (hydrated filament can also cause extra "balooning"). other option is openscad with a tolerance variable, but im an artist/engineer not a programmer, Open scad is like nails on a chalkboard to me.. but if enough folks request it I might give it a try.
