Printed this today, and it works OK. Found the fins made it very hard to insert the pen without hitting the edges of the fins. I solved this by snipping off 3-4mm off the tips at a 45 degree-ish angle inwards.

Very cool design! Thanks for uploading. Any chance of being able to get a copy of the original 3D model to kit bash and modify?

How does the charging cord fit on the bottom of this print? It seems like it will kink it and not sit well without the pencil in it.

It works if you give it a bend on the inside before leading it out. There's plenty of room for that. But unless you do that, then yes, that's the case.

Took 3 hours to print, tried it and the first time pencil removed one of the fins snapped off :( I've since hot glued them, I suspect a wider fin base would stop this.

Thank you for your feedback! A wider fin base sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can get time to post an update.

I actually ordered myself one of these from Shapeways (white strong and flexible), and that one has proven quite robust with a lot of use. But in my experience, many of my home prints are more fragile and need more support. The nGen material has been one of the better I have used.

Let me know if you do redesign ill happily give it another try. I've not used Shapeways to produce things yet though with some of the more complicated models that would likely be a wise idea.
