This is such a great design!! I played around with using a second color to have the letters pop out. I haven't tried printing this version yet, but will soon!

Thanks! BTW there is a "deluxe" version of the dreidel on Thingiverse with separate letters for color.

Very cool! You thought of it already! I tried to design the different color letters so it could be printed on my new multi-material printer. But still haven't had the guts to try it yet. (I've had some issues printing in multiple colors that I'm still trying to work out...)

You might have to trim a bit... and even then mine fit after some serious convincing.

That being said, by second one in a different material - the top fits, but slides out easily. Might have to glue. It seems it all depends on the type of filament...

This is a very impressive piece. It printed wonderfully.

This is a great print! I just started printing & have printed 3 of these so far. Spins great too!

The file where the model has both included is messed up. Theres is a square piece filling up the star engrave where the stem fits in. Just wasted so much at 100% infill plastic printing this :(

Hi. Could you upload the design files?

How do you separate the dreidel from the stem? It still has both of them on there together in one file.

How do you separate the dreidel from the stem? It still has both of them on there together in one file.

I have a little dreidel, it's made of PLA. I'll pull it off my printbed, and dreidel I shall play!

How can I separate the two pieces so I can print just the stem? I also am finding that the stem is very fragile and breaks most of the time when removing from the print bed.

I saved the spinner part alone to the Thing files. You might have to print two at once since it is fairly thin. The thinness gives it higher spinning speed. Print it dense and it shouldn't break that easily.

Congrats! I thought you model was one of the best choices for a 3D Printed Holiday gift! I made a link from here: http://3dprintingninja.blogspot.com/2014/12/top-20-free-3d-printed-christmas-gifts.html

great, came out great, thanks

Great thanks, now it looks perfect, i'll print one today and keep you updated

OK, managed to open it but it seems that both Ver 1 and Ver 2 do have a letter mistake, the letter "was" should be "?" instead you have "?" the original version (the first one you placed in the WEB) was OK.
Really really really appreciate if you can fix it

Shows you how much Hebrew I know! Thanks for pointing that out, I've uploaded V3.

Hi Zydac,
The letters are just perfect but there are 2 issues...in the current version the star is filled with two rafters so the handle wont be able to be inserted in and the second issue is that the current version has 22842 triangles while the previous one has 5832, due to that I cant import the current one into Google Sketch for editing (adding personal greetings), do you have a way to reduce the number of triangles?
Thanks again

I reexported it with fewer triangles - Version 02. The two pieces in the star are just support since I made the star larger in this version. They snap out pretty easily. I'm coming out with a "deluxe" version of this soon - stay tuned!

Hi Zydac,
Did you have the chance to prepare the modified Dreidel? really appreciate that and thanks for you help. the birthday is coming soon and I need to print 50 of those...

Modified version is uploaded! Can you check to make sure I got the letters the right way?

Really liked your model and I would like to give it as a present in my kids kindergarten, any chance you can make the Israeli version i.e. change the letter "there"----->? to "Here"-------->?
Hannukah is coming soon and it can be a great present to kids.

Hmm, I had no idea that Israeli dreidels were different... I'll modify a version this week. Let's hope I get the letters the right way around this time!

Thanks, really appreciate that!!!!.
There are two versions of the Dreidel and that's depend where you play with them, if you play in Israel then it should be written (only the first letter and in Hebrew): "A Great Miracle Happened Here." if you play them outside of Israel then it should be written: "A Great Miracle Happened There [in Israel]." you have prepared the last one.

Thanks again,

Great solution for a difficult shape!

O yeah, what did you use to design this?

Rhino 3. I can upload the Rhino file if anyone want to modify this.

Nice design, I think it could benefit from either a sharper or just rounded point on the handle, for upside down spinning. Always my favorite.

I just had a thought. I could make a dreidel using my Epilog 12x18 laser.

You could also make one with numbers on it for a D4.

Finally! A well done dreidel :-D

WARNING!!! The letters are mirrored! :) they are turned around in a wrong way.

Oops! I don't know Hebrew. I'll fix it!

The letters are upside down (Horizontally)
