Summary

My son loves the 50p foam gliders we get from the model shop so I have made him a super sized glider based on a Spitfire. Its cut from 2.6mm balsa wood with a 5mm clear acrylic nose and 3mm dowel pins holding it together - no glue as long as the dowels are tight enough.

Instructions

Cut from 2.6mm Balsa.
Cut nose pieces from 5mm Acrylic (could be replaced with something of equal mass).
Pin acrylic to nose.
Slot in wings.
Throw!
Clear up all the things you broke when you threw it in the workshop (that could just be me though)

I tried opening the DXF file, but it appears to be corrupt. Have other people had this problem?

Just updated the DXF and added a PDF. I have included the nose section as well.

Does anyone know how well this plane glides? I'd like to know before I order some balsa :)

It glides pretty well, well enough to get stuck in the top of a pretty tall tree!
