I am printing in glow in the dark for late night reference

Jun 14, 2016 - Modified Jun 14, 2016

I'm having a problem with this model. There is an internal structure that causes the bulb vestibule (the two inner "legs") to print as a barely attached component, which has created problems in pass-around-the-class situations. I tried hollowing it out and attaching the bulbs to the corpus cavernosum (the back part) in Sketchup, but I couldn't get the result loaded into my print software. My Blender skills haven't proved sufficient to even make an attempt at fixing it. Is there someone out there with the right skills to fix this that wants to take a crack at making this a single hollow object?

Hi there,
I'm sorry you are having difficulty with this model! As I'm sure you've guessed, I am new to 3D design myself, so I apologize for the flaws in the product. When I printed this model I actually used the plane cut tool to go straight down the middle, creating two pieces with flat bases. Once printed, I super-glued the two pieces together to create the whole model. I don't know if this helps with your issue at all, but I appreciate your interest in the model, and once again, I apologize for my limited design skills. Best of luck!

Amy,

Thank you for making this model! I've printed out dozens of these, at this point. Every single one has ended up in the hands of a sex educator of one sort or another.

Thank you for making this model! I'm printing in PLA, and honestly, neither super glue nor epoxy has really do a good job holding them together. I've had one break in transit, and they aren't to durable for pass-around-the-class situations. I've opened the model up in a few applications, and I can see how the bulbs of the vestibule are actually a separate piece from the corpora cavernosa, and that there are a couple of interior bulb structures that keep it from being one piece. Also, the bulb and crus are not joined, making the model weaker.

I tried editing the file to fix these issues, but ultimately was not able to produce a printable model after the edits. I'm leaving this comment in the hopes someone with better editing skills will take an interest and tweak the model!

Ha! I found it!
