Update 2016-07-02 Having fun with Truggy and RunCamHD on 3S.
Update 2016-04-27 i draw and printed parts which i broke. Will see how the holds up in outdoor test. Any way it's better then just wait for replacement parts. Also added pictures with wheel in place.
I want to mount an FPV Gear and camera + some LEDs on my Truggy. But didn't know where to do it. And then i saw Traxxas E-Revo roll cage. So i thought it will be a good platform for mounting whatever you want on your car. So i designed this kind of Roll Cage. It's quite robust if you running on some soft track and not hitting the concrete road edging like i did.(3 times actually).
Anyway, it was made for slow FPV rides, not bashing.
You can choose the plates for your needs(LEDs, FPV stuff, camera). You can turn them upside down if you need so.
Also added simple bumpers and rhino style bumpers if some one whats to print only them.
So far i found 3 weak points
First is my driving skills. This was my first run and on 3S in the town. I should choose some softer track for practice.
Second is my transmitter for air models, not cars.
And the third is this damn concrete road edging. Lol.
Will modify and add some plates for different needs.
To build this you will need
18-30 M3x16 bolts + washers (depending on which plates you want to use or how many of them),
126mm M6 threaded rod,
2 washers and 2 M6 locking nuts for this rod,
2 clips to hold the cage in the back.
On the bottom used 4 original countersunk screws.
Just remember! Don't hit the concrete! Lol.
