what is the cross between a pencilcase and a puzzlebox?
a lockable Puzzle-Case (with hidden drawers! :-)

  • 3 rulers wich can be combined with joints to a 54cm ruler;
  • guiding rails in the main compartment - to use the rulers as seperator
  • two hidden drawers (need additional steps to unlock)
  • the key to lock the box is the pencil topper (literally)

the three print-sets are intended for one-color prints on a 20x20cm build area and include a 1x1x1cm calibration cube

stl files for each individual part can be found in the zip file

Has anyone made one of these? I tried a few years back and about ripped my hair out trying and failing.

there is to many issue with that model the red peace that connect the lock has no hole for the drawer. the main body that connect the flap can easily break also the yellow that lock every thing together just snap right away.

There is an error in the LockTopPiece : there is no hole to allow the hidden drawer through it to the locking mechanism.

Another small issue is about the colors : two MainDecal should be in the second color ( to allow alternating colors on the end of the box)

The pins in he locking mechanism are quite weak. I'm not sure they could last long and some parts are non-manifold...

Except this error, it's a very nice looking box... Best printed using two colors. alternating colors for flaps, drawers and main-decal. A third color may be used for main and locking mechanism.

Printed some parts using PLA but stopped when I saw the TopLockPiece issue...

As a side note, it made me spot a small calibration problem in my Z-Axis (about 1%) as it's the first time I printed something so long on that axis (which is the second reason why I didn't print the last parts)

thanks for the feedback!

yeah... if i where to design this box again today, with all the experience i gained over the last years, i certainly would put it together differently to improve prinatbility and stability -- the long vertical and thin parts are in most cases just wrong... they would have been better off beeing printed horizontally and then glued into place...

sorry for it beeing just an expensive z-calibration print - at least it did some good :-s
