why are the tenticals floating in a cage?

I tried the merged prints of both the tentacle segments and ends and they way the files are designed the parts inside the box are just floating, therefore making the prints unsuccessful. This holds true for the chain on the octopus head as well. They need supports from the ground if you are going to have them be printed in mass quantities. The other portions of the prints work well, its just tedious to print the legs one segment at a time.

Hi it’s specifically stated that the merged sinter box parts are for SLS printing since you don’t need supports inn SLS. Same goes for the chain unfortunately. This is not an FDM-friendly model. That’s why I have included all link parts and chain-less head version for FDM printing.

Oh, my apologies. Just getting into the 3D printing game and yours was the first one I tried. Thanks for the information!

Ah it all makes sense now:) no worries at all! You could easily multiply single segment in your slicer to however many you need:) no need to build each segment per build. Build em all at once haha!:-D good luck!

This is one of my favourite prints ever!

What are you talking about? It is clearly submitted as a remix and the original model link can be seen in the remixed from section.

Very nice design! The head definitely needed supports for me. Everything fit together really precisely.

I am considering printing this, and possibly using it to prank my younger cousin into thinking I have a real octopus.... :P

Dude, this is the coolest thing i have seen so far!

Would be cool if there was another body to make it look like one of the sentinels from The Matrix :)

Nice thing.
@Solid_Alexei, more details about print settings are welcome too.
I had to print with a raft on, else the octopus head didn't attach to the bed well.

Hi! I build on SLS machine so no supports for me fortunately.

Amazing print quality!

Thank you very much!
